George Fox Honorary Children’s Fishing Awards Program
The Club will conducts a program to reward children (age 12 and younger) who catch a fish between Jan. 1st and Dec. 31st.
The Children's Fishing Awards Program runs annually January 1st though December 31st. This is a great way to foster interest in our sport and have a great time in the process. You may be helping a generation of future club members! All children age twelve and under are eligible, you may sponsor as many children as you like. They don’t need to be related to a club member. A club member must be the one taking the child fishing. Please send a photo of the youngster holding his/her catch, the child’s name, and the date of the catch via email to:

Their award will be a framed certificate with their picture that documents that they are honorary members of the Englewood Fishing Club they also receive a Fishing Rod and Real.
The Englewood Fishing Club sponsors numerous Activities and Events throughout the year that offer its members a chance to practice fishing skills, socialize with other members, and participate in volunteer events. Photos from these events are posted in the Photos section of the web site. The dates and locations vary and will be posted in the Monthly Newsletter and the Calendar links on the web site as they are scheduled.
The following activities are typically held annually but may not be scheduled every year due to weather and conflicts with other activities.
Big Brothers / Big Sisters
The Englewood Fishing Club sponsors a Big Brothers / Big Sisters Fishing Derby. EFC members volunteer to assist boys and girls from Big Brothers / Big Sisters at a fishing outing will be held at Chadwick Park on Manasota Key
Fishing Derbies and Tournaments
Fishing Derbies and Tournaments are held on most months throughout the year. See Fishing Events for more details and results of past events.
Spring, Summer and Fall Picnic
There are Spring, Summer and Fall Picnics usually a week after a Fishing Tournament. The Club provides soft drinks, hot dogs, hamburgers, and sausages. Members are encouraged to bring a dish to share. The Spring Picnic is often held at Don Pedro State Park (island).
Cardboard Boat Races, Pioneer Days
The Englewood Fishing Club sponsors a boat in the Cardboard Boat Races at Indian Mounds Park during Pioneer Days in September. Our boat paddlers are two local youth from the Englewood area.
Youth Fishing Event
EFC members volunteer at the Youth Fishing Event (Manasota Beach) sponsored by Sarasota Parks. This event is usually held in September. EFC members also volunteer to help the Charlotte County recreational commission with there fishing event.
Sebastian Inlet State Park Outing
This event will be held in October this year and lasts for a week. Lodging is available at the State Park or at several hotels/ resorts in Sebastian and Vero Beach. Much of our fishing is done at the Pier at the Sebastian inlet, but boat rentals and charters are also available for flats and off-shore fishing. There are several social events including a fishing derby and fish fry at the end of the week.
Christmas Dinner Party
A Christmas Dinner Party is held in early December at a local restaurant. The club sponsors a Toys for Tots collection at this event for local families.
Helping Hands
The Englewood Fishing Club sponsors a donation box for Helping Hands at each monthly meeting. Members are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to assist those in need.
