DON PEDRO STATE PARK FISHING AND PICNIC LUNCH

This fishing and picnic outing has now become annual springtime event, and is held in late March or early April. For those not familiar with the Park or the picnic details follow.

Don Pedro State Park is located on Little Gasparilla Island, and is only accessible by boat through a small channel near Marker #38 on the Intercoastal Waterway. There is docking at the park for about 12 boats. For those Club members without boats, the Club operates a “ferry” service to and from the Park’s land base on Placida Rd. Activities at the Park include swimming, fishing, shelling and walking the trails around the island. There is a large covered pavilion, tables, grills and restrooms. The “official” times for the outing are from 10:00am- 2:00pm. and Reservations are Required. There is a State Park usage fee of $2.00 per car or boat payable by participants. Procedures to participate are as follows:

Transportation: Docking space at the Park is limited, on a first come basis, and spaces cannot be reserved. If need be you can anchor your boat out, and we will ferry you in and out to the dock. For those without boats we ferry members from the land base dock of Don Pedro State Park from 9:30am to 10:15am and back from the Island from 1:30pm to 2:00pm. You must sign up for the ferry!

The Picnic: Lunch is a 12:00 noon. Participants must bring their own beverages, ice, sunscreen, beach chairs and fishing equipment & bait PLUS a dish to share that would complement a beachside picnic. The club will furnish and cook hamburgers and hot dogs, buns, condiments, plates, napkins, eating utensils and charcoal. You must sign up for the picnic.

Sign up sheets will be handed around at the meeting prior to the outing. Reservations are a must. If you cannot attend this meeting you can make reservations directly with the Reservation Coordinators who will be indicated below when the event is finalized.
